In our scope for the soft renovation of the hotel lobby and library, our vision was to highlight the reception’s monolithic and awe-inspiring qualities while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We accentuated the library's beautiful wood details and artwork, crafting a serene sanctuary for guests to escape the bustling energy of Magnificent Mile, where the hotel resides.
By upgrading the lighting and materials, we breathed new life into the Park Hyatt Chicago’s arrival experience. The result is an airy and vibrant atmosphere, creating seamless lighting transitions between interior and exterior spaces despite the lobby’s windowless design.
As a soft renovation, we replaced only the necessary lighting elements, such as the lighting around the columns and the wall grazers behind the reception desk, which had reached the end of their life cycle. The remaining lighting involved a meticulous relamping process, ensuring consistency in manufacturer, color temperature, and lumen output.
Integration with the existing control system was crucial to maintain a seamless guest experience. We worked closely with our network of technicians and suppliers to select LED lighting fixtures with the right phase dimming drivers, as compatibility was paramount.
The result is a transformative lighting experience, characterized by distinct scenes throughout the day. The morning scene radiates brightness and energy, invigorating guests for the day ahead. The transition to the sunset scene gradually creates a dimmed and cozy ambiance, allowing guests to unwind and embrace the evening into a restful sleep.
